Raigad Fort, a historic hill fort in Maharashtra, served as the capital of the Maratha Empire under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It’s located in the Raigad district, about 25 km from Mahad. Shivaji renovated and made it his capital in 1674, after which the Maratha empire flourished. The fort can be accessed via a ropeway or by climbing over 1700 steps. It features the Ganga Sagar Lake and the Hirakani Bastion.
